Fear Itself begins!

Best of last week

My favorite book last week was the first issue in the Fear Itself crossover/event, Fear Itself: Book of the Skull.
This issue follows two story lines, one past and one present. In the past we have a WWII story with Captain America, Bucky and Namor fighting Nazis and the Red Skull top his latest plot, while in the present we have Red Skull's daughter Sin with the aid of Baron Zemo breaking into an old Red Skull hideout, with all it's defenses intact. Both of these stories were pretty fun reads.
My favorite of the two has got to be the WWII story, but that's mostly because I love stories that have Nazi's as bad guys. I guess it goes back to my love for the Indiana Jones movies but is there a better bad guy than Nazis? well Zombies I guess. Nazi Zombies? Best Villain ever. Overall this book was enjoyable from the art by Scot Eaton to Brubaker's story but how can you go wrong with WWII, Red Skull, Nazis, Frost Giants, and Invaders versions of Bucky, Namor and Cap? there is so much to enjoy here I highly recommend picking it up.

Episode 2 of the Amazing League weekly podcast

A new episode.

We are starting to find our regular format style. This week we don't have a graphic novel to review but we sure do fill the time with our weekly books discussion and a few tangents.

Enjoy.

Pull list for march 23rd

So I got behind again, but it's actually related to Amazing League business this time. Mostly. We have uploaded our first podcast and I have been spending most of my free time trying to get it up on Itunes but for some reason Itunes says I have no episodes in my feed. Hopefully I will figure this out soon. I skipped my last weeks top of the stack since I covered it in the podcast, so if you are curious check that out. as for what I picked up this week...

Marvel

Amazing Spider-Man #656 - Spidey gets some Spidey ArmorI hope this goes away soon like the Spiderbuggy and all his other suits. I like the Peter Parker, Friendly neighborhood scientist, but not a fan of the suits. A little too Iron Man-ish to me.

Generation Hope #5 - More of the train wreck that is the salvation of the mutant race.

Uncanny X-Force #5.1 - I really don't get why they didn't have the .1 issue after the first story arc instead of right after the beginning of the second.

Uncanny X-Men Annual #3 - Eh, it's an Annual, sometimes good, sometimes bad. we will see.

Fear Itself: Book of the Skull #1 - Fear Itself kicks off. I have lots of hope for this crossover.

 D.C.

Batman #708 - I'm really loving my venture into the Batman comics. I think I am going to stick with this.

Astonishing X-Men #36 - The last issue in this series came out in late August. after a long hiatus and a new creative team on board lets see if they keep on schedule.

Avengers #10 - The Avengers and all try to get the infinity gems before the hood. I'm ready for this to get going.

Fantastic Four #588 - Human Torch is dead. the last issue of the Fantastic four.

New Mutants #22 - Age of X - Chapter 2 - sucks that this comes out same week as Chapter 1. guess I'm getting both no matter how Chapter 1 is.

X-Men: Legacy #245 - Age of X - Chapter 1 - Hope this is better than the alpha.

D.C. Picks

Detective Comics #874 - Cover looks cool and these have been good so far.

Teen Titans #92 - I used to pick these up due to a comic store mistake in my pull file and I liked it, but dropped it to cut back what I bought but I see this becoming regular again.
